Solidarity, together with the Num and Uasa signed a wage agreement with Harmony Gold today.
In terms of the agreement, workers on job levels of miners, artisans and officials will receive a 6,3% increase for 2018, and 6,3% or CPI (whichever is the greater) for the following two years. The category 4-8 employees will receive an increase of R700, R750 and R825 respectively over the next three years in terms of the agreement. The housing allowance will also be increased with R100 per annum (from R2 100 per month) for the next three years (to R2 400 per month).
Solidarity hopes that Sibanye-Stillwater will learn from AngloGold Ashanti and Harmony that wage agreements are reached when the company negotiates in good faith. Sibanye made a ‘revised offer” of 5,2% today to miners, artisans and officials, that is exactly the same offer that was made two weeks ago. Sibanye also reneged on various other matters that were agreed upon.
