Thousands of millions of rand of tax payers’ hard-earned money is being poured into the looting pit of state institutions. These institutions form the core of state corruption and state capture in South Africa.

Solidarity is taking a new direction in the battle against state capture and the wasting of taxpayers’ money. We are instituting a process of placing state enterprises that have become a mere looting pit for taxpayers’ money under business rescue. This has never been done before, but it will be the start of a privatisation process.

This court application is a legal form of tax protest. It is in the interest of all taxpayers in South Africa, therefore we need the support of as many tax payers as possible.

Mandate

I am a faithful taxpayer. I demand value for my tax money. I intend to ensure, with Solidarity, that my tax money is no longer wasted by state enterprises such as SAA. I insist that taxpayers should be able to give their input on the management of institutions funded by our tax money.

R7 700 of my money has ALREADY been used to “save” the SAA. All of this money could have built 300 schools that could have educated 210 000 children. Enough is enough! My money is my responsibility and my decision.

I hereby give Solidarity a mandate to apply on my behalf, as a South African tax payer, to have the SAA placed under business rescue. My tax money may no longer be cast into the looting pit of state enterprises. Taxpayers demand responsible, professional private management of institutions funded by our money. I accept that by giving this mandate, no further rights and obligations rest on Solidarity or on me.

What happens next?

Solidarity has already sent a letter to the President, the Finance Minister and the Minister of Public Enterprises to ask them to support Solidarity’s application for placing the SAA under business rescue. Parliament will be petitioned to debate the issue and Solidarity will bring a court application to officially have the SAA placed under business rescue.
