Members of the Special Task Force, the National Intervention Unit and tactial reaction teams, as well as members of the VIP Unit and static guard services have recently been promoted to the ranks of Warrant Officer and Sergeant regardless of their years of service, experience, and special skills in the SAPS.
These preferential promotions are not only in conflict with the existing national instructions and agreements of the Bargaining Council for the Safety and Security Sector which regulate promotion in the SAPS, but it also boils down to unfair, unethical, and ill-considered promotions.
Solidarity is going to submit a collective grievance on behalf of its members against this unfair labour practice.
If you are a hardworking and loyal member of the SAPS who have been affected negatively by these preferential promotions, give us your mandate before or on 27 March 2019.
